Note: To any casual readers I may have who may or may not be reading this, please feel free to skip over this post. This one's for my UConn family. To My UConn Kids,
I hope you all had a wonderful, exciting and just plain fun spring weekend. This post is here to wish you the best of luck next week on finals. Remember that exams, while draining, can be a lot of fun. Think about all the time you spend in the library with friends during finals. In fact, one of my great friends and I are so close because we spent so much time together studying for finals. So this week there are three things that you should do listed in order of importance from lowest to highest: study hard, learn much, and gambatte!
So best of luck to EP, Dugs, Shawn, My Pam aka Lisa, Mark, the other Sax kids, Amanda, Melissa, B-Dizz, Rees, Lanna, Looby, Agvent, Birch, Lombardo, Maddy and the others abroad and the rest (sorry if you didn't get named but I'm lazy), and of course my former roommates King, Stacey, Pete and Matt.
Today's SPECIAL word is: Gambaru. This word means "to persevere or to do one's best" and is the informal form of this verb. Usage: watashi wa gambaru or I persevere.

You all may have noticed that I sign each post with "Gambatte". The "te" at the end makes the verb a command. So when I say "gambatte" to you, I'm telling you to persevere or do your best. It can also mean good luck. The Japanese don't actually have a word or phrase for good luck, so this is the closest approximation. I picked this word for obvious reasons. Because while studying hard is important, it is more important for you to truly learn, both scholastically and about life. Above all those, it is important in all your facets of life to persevere. To quote the great movie Galaxy Quest "Never give up, never surrender". So to all my friends back home, in the coming hell week, please...
Gambatte,
-DPN
